Frequently Asked Questions

✓What is Wild Yam▼
Wild yam, a plant traditionally used in both Western and Eastern herbal medicine, contains diosgenin, a naturally occurring plant compound. Diosgenin is a phytosterol that plays a role in the body’s biochemical lipid pathways, which are essential to produce cholesterol—a precursor to adrenal hormones.
✓How do I use it if no cycle is present?▼
You can start at any time, just keep to three weeks of use followed by one week of rest. Repeating on a monthly cycle. Use the moon cycle, a calendar or a journal to help you keep track.
✓How long does it take to notice changes?▼
The time it takes to observe effects may vary depending on individual factors such as hormonal patterns, lifestyle, and exposure to environmental influences. Consistent use over a period of several months is often recommended, though some individuals may notice changes sooner.
✓Does Wild Yam contain Progesterone?▼
No, Wild Yam Cream does not contain progesterone. The only natural source of progesterone is the one produced by the body.
✓How to use if my cycle is irregular?▼
Adhere to the rule of 3 weeks of use and a week break, but with flexibility. Use the first day of your period always as day one, disregarding anything that came before. Take day one as a reset and start a new cycle. This might mean your yam cycle might not be 3 weeks of use exactly, but it will slowly come into rhythm. If you use for 3 weeks, but your cycle doesn’t arrive, take a break anyway and resume after a week’s break. If your period arrives at anytime, reset, mark it as day one and start a new cycle of a week break followed by three weeks of use. There will be some period of time that you will be adjusting till your body falls into a more predictable flow.
✓Can Men or Teenagers use Wild Yam Cream?▼
Yes, both men and teenagers may choose to use Wild Yam Cream as part of their wellness routine. Hormonal health is influenced by many factors, and individual needs vary. We also make dedicated Teen and Male Yam Creams, with added ingredients to support their natural balance.
✓Can I use Wild Yam Cream if I am Breastfeeding?▼
Many women in these circumstances choose Wild Yam Cream as part of their self-care regimen. However, personal health decisions are best made in consultation with a healthcare provider.
✓Should I use Wild Yam Cream if I Have Had a Full or Partial Hysterectomy▼
Your body continues to make hormones after a hysterectomy, primarily in the adrenal glands, or ovaries if still present. Wild Yam simply supports this process. Wild Yam does not contain hormones, it stimulates your body to make its own hormones. Many women have used and love Wild Yam cream as it works to support their body post hysterectomy to continue to make hormones. Suggested use of stopping for one week out of four is to reflect how our bodies make hormones in a cycle. Listen to your body and your intuition.
✓Can Wild Yam Cream be used with hormonal contraception or HRT?▼
It is not typically recommended to use Wild Yam Cream alongside synthetic hormones, as their mechanisms of action differ.
